The Divine Economy

Christ is also everything in God’s economy. God’s economy is His eternal plan to obtain His heart’s desire (Eph. 1:9-10; 3:9-11), His good pleasure. The question is often asked, “What is God’s plan for my life?” However, rarely is the question raised, “What is God’s plan for His life?” God’s eternal plan is to impart His life into His chosen people to gain many sons for His expression (Eph. 1:5). These sons constitute the Body of Christ (Eph. 1:22-23), which will consummate in the New Jerusalem in eternity (Rev. 21—22). Christ is the anointed One to carry out God’s economy. It is only through His redemptive death that man is reconciled to God (Col. 1:22). It is only in Christ’s resurrection that man can receive the life of God (1 Cor.15:45), enabling him to express God for His good pleasure. Everything in God’s economy is accomplished by, in and for Christ. Without Him, God has no way to carry out His economy, His eternal plan. (Witness Lee, Conclusion, 258-259)
